Rowan Atkinson returns to the role of the accidental secret agent who doesn’t know fear or danger in the comedy spy-thriller Johnny English Reborn. In his latest adventure, the most unlikely intelligence officer in Her Majesty’s Secret Service must stop a group of international assassins before they eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos. In the years since MI-7′s top spy vanished off the grid, he has been honing his unique skills in a remote region of Asia. But when his agency superiors learn of an attempt against the Chinese premier’s life, they must hunt down the highly unorthodox agent. Now that the world needs him once again, Johnny English is back in action. With one shot at redemption, he must employ the latest in hi-tech gadgets to unravel a web of conspiracy that runs throughout the KGB, CIA and even MI-7. With mere days until a heads of state conference, one man must use every trick in his playbook to protect us all. For Johnny English, disaster may be an option, but failure never is.

While Dave is an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three, Mitch has remained a single, quasi-employed man-child who has never met a responsibility he liked. To Mitch, Dave has it all: beautiful wife Jamie (Leslie Mann), kids who adore him and a high-paying job at a prestigious law firm. To Dave, living Mitch’s stress-free life without obligation or consequence would be a dream come true. Following a drunken night out together, Mitch and Dave’s worlds are turned upside down when they wake up in each other’s bodies and proceed to freak out. Despite the freedom from their normal routines and habits, the guys soon discover that each other’s lives are nowhere near as rosy as they once seemed. Further complicating matters are Dave’s sexy legal associate, Sabrina (Olivia Wilde) and Mitch’s estranged father (Alan Arkin). With time not on their side, Mitch and Dave comically struggle to avoid completely destroying each other’s lives before they can find a way to get their old ones back.

The legacy of legendary dancer and choreographer Honey Daniels lives on in spirited 17-year-old Maria Ramirez (Katerina Graham). After a brush with the law, Maria has returned to her gritty Bronx roots to rebuild her life with nothing but a talent for street dance and a burning ambition to prove herself. She finds refuge in the place that made her feel most alive as a kid at the rec center where Honey’s exuberant classes first ignited her passion for dance.

Keeping on a straight and narrow means living with Honey’s mom Connie (Lonette McKee) and holding down a job just to make ends meet. But a rare night out at a local dance club gives her an opportunity to let loose with a joy and energy she had almost forgotten. Maria’s killer moves catch the eye of Brandon (Randy Wayne), a rec center volunteer, who invites her to help him transform a group of gifted but indisciplined dancers called the HD’s.

Maria’s skills also attract the attention of her old boyfriend Luis (Christopher ‘War’ Martinez), the charismatic leader of the award winning 718 dance crew, who hopes to lure her back into the street world she is trying to escape. Seeing a chance at creating a new and meaningful life, Maria pours her heart and soul into dance and begins training the HDs to compete on the television dance competition “Dance or Die” which means going up against the 718 and Luis. Like Honey before her, Maria rediscovers the thrill of dancing as she finds out who she truly is and where she belongs.

The child’s desperate mind remarkably bends a metal gate until a guard knocks Lensherr unconscious (the same footage that’s in the first X-Men movie). Scientist Sebastian Shaw, who has observed this through a window, calls Lensherr up to see him. Placing a metal coin on a desk, he orders Lensherr to use his magnetism power to move it. When Lensherr cannot, despite his best efforts, Shaw shoots and kills Lensher’s mother in front of him. In his rage, Lensherr’s out-of-control magnetic power kills the two guards and destroys two rooms, to Shaw’s delight.

Around this same time, in Westchester County, New York, mansion, a young Charles Xavier meets a young, shape-shifting girl named Raven, scrounging for food in the kitchen, disguised as his mother, who is looking through the fridge for food. Xavier accuses his “mother” of being an imposter, and asks what it has done with his real mother, as she would not make him a sandwich or hot chocolate, at which point, Mystique shifts back to her normal form. Overjoyed to meet someone else “different” like him, he says she can come live with his family.

In Switzerland in the movie’s present-day of 1962, Lensherr forces a banker (by ripping out one of the metal fillings in his mouth) to trace a bar of Nazi gold to Shaw’s address in Argentina. In a tavern there patronized by former German soldiers, Lensherr kills three men as he learns that Shaw has a yacht in Florida. Meanwhile, in England, Oxford University graduate Xavier is publishing his thesis on mutation; his foster sister Raven, a waitress, lives with him. Simultaneously in Las Vegas, Nevada, CIA agent Moira MacTaggart follows U.S. Army Colonel Hendry into the Hellfire Club, where she sees Shaw, Emma Frost, and Azazel. After Shaw threatens Henry, Azazel disappears with the officer; moments later he is in the War Room, advocating that U.S. install nuclear missiles in Turkey.

Shaw meets with Colonel Hendry on his yacht, and refuses to give Hendry his money, at which point Hendry pulls out a grenade and threatens to pull the pin, but Shaw takes the grenade and pulls the pin himself, and absorbs the blast (at which point we now learn that Shaw is a mutant, and absorbs energy, which also keeps him young), then taps Hendry, expelling the grenade’s energy into the Colonel, blowing him up.

MacTaggart seeks Xaviers advice on mutation, and takes Xavier and Raven to the CIA to convince the chief that Shaw is a threat. After convincing them that mutants exist they are to be taken to a covert facility, but first Xavier tracks down Shaw. Lensherr attacks Shaw, and when Shaw escapes in his submarine Lensherr tries to stop him, but Xavier stops him so that he does not drown. Lensherr joins Xavier and Raven at the CIA facility, where they meet Hank McCoy, another mutant that Xavier accidentally outs. McCoy and Xavier use a prototype Cerebro to locate mutants and recruit several of them to train to stop Shaw. Upon the recruiting process, we also see Xavier and Lensherr walk up to Hugh Jackman in a bar and introduce themselves. Jackman tells them to go to hell, and they walk off.

Shaw plans to meet with a Russian general, but sends Frost instead, who is then captured by Xavier and Lensherr. The facility is attacked by Azazel, Riptide and Shaw, with all the guards being killed. Shaw recruits Angel and kills Darwin by forcing him to ingest a massive amount of energy. When Lensherr and Xavier return they begin to train the mutants, though Raven is conflicted about hiding her natural form.

President Kennedy institutes a blockade. Shaw travels with the Russian fleet to ensure that the missiles get to Cuba. Xavier, MacTaggart and Lensherr fly to the blockade to stop the fleets from engaging. Shaw uses a nuclear core to charge himself up and a helmet to block Xaviers telepathy. While Azazel kills the crew of the Russian missile ship, Xavier uses his powers to make a Russian ship destroy the missile ship before it crosses the line.

Lensherr pulls Shaws submarine from the water, but an attack forces the jet and submarine to crash. Lensherr finds Shaw and removes his helmet and Xavier takes control of Shaw. Lensherr puts on the helmet, then kills him by forcing the coin that Shaw taunted him with through his brain.

The two fleets fire their missiles at the mutants, but Lensherr, now fully in control of his abilities, holds the missiles in the air, then turns them on the fleet. In the ensuing fight Xavier manages to distract Lensherr, but when MacTaggart fires at Lensherr he deflects the bullets, with one paralyzing Xavier.

Lensherr takes Raven, Angel Salvadore, Riptide and Azazel and leaves. Xavier and the mutants return to the mansion, where he will open a school. He wipes MacTaggarts memory, and Lensherr breaks Frost out of the CIA headquarters, and in his new uniform he tells Frost to call him Magneto.

Showing at Genesis Deluxe Cinemas on 10th June 2011

Dear Friends, Hope you’re having a fantastic week? This happens to be the last week in April and we should all be delighted and give thanks to God for seeing us through another month. The Easter holidays are finally over thanks to our entire loyal guest for all your support and Easter prayers, despite all the troubles in the Northern part of the country you all came out to celebrate in the spirit of togetherness as one nation. As we also approach the last day of the election we pray all goes well as planned and to all our youth coopers out there a big thank you to the efforts and hard work you all have put in towards a positive change and a new Nigerian, all we can do now is sit back pray and hope that all that has being promised to us will be fulfilled and to all those that have lost their loved ones please accept our heartfelt sympathy.

Over to this week’s movies: topping the list is “Sucker Punch” this an all packed Action, Adventure, Fantasy/Thriller starring Emily browning, Vanessa Hudgins and Abbey Cornish, it’s about A young girl (Baby Doll) who is locked away in a mental asylum by her abusive stepfather where she will undergo a lobotomy in five days time. Faced with unimaginable odds, she retreats to a fantastical world in her imagination where she and four other female inmates at the asylum, plot to escape the facility. The lines between reality and fantasy blur as Baby Doll and her four companions, as well as a mysterious guide, fight to retrieve the five items they need that will allow them to break free from their captors before it’s too late…i am actually looking forward to seeing this movie “why” you might ask… well lets just say i have seen a sneak preview of the movie and “I just cant wait to see it all” Ooohh!!! Did I happen to mention it’s in 3D well.. I just did. So make a date with (Me) this weekend at your number one 3 Dimension/Digital Cinema at the Palms Shopping Mall BIS way Lekki.

I must confess one of the BEST movies I happen to have seen this year is no other than our own Nollywood production by one of Nollywoods gifted Directors Daniel Ademinokan from movies such as OMO IYA KAN. “Ghetto Dreamz” This movie is FANTASTIC!! IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD!!!. A few months ago, the Nigerian Entertainment Industry was faced with the shocking demise of the a popular rapper Da-Grin, Ghetto Dreamz is his story, to honor his legacy and impact on Nigeria’s music. It is said that the sole aim of producing the movie is to preserve Dagrin’s legacy for posterity, to raise fund for his family and most importantly to finance the Ghetto Dream foundation in order to help aspiring young artiste to achieve their dreams. I think this is worth booking a seat for as well. The movie features Doris Simeon Ademinokan and Kunle Afolayan and has with scenes from Dagrins final burial. still showcasing at the cinema are “No Strings Attached”, “Battle Los Angeles”, “Rango”, “Hop”, “Red Riding Hood”, “Mars Needs Moms”, “Hall Pass” and “Bent Arrow”, “Just Go With It”, and “Tomorrow when The War Began”

Still showcasing this week, is our Nollywood superstars: “Tango with Me” starring Genevieve Nnaji, Tinsel’s Joseph Benjamin, Joke Sylvia and Bimbo Akintola. It’s a family drama/romance about a newlywed couple who got entangled with mistaken identities during their honeymoon and as a result had to face a lot of challenges, which they could overcome only through self discovery and forgiveness. So, as I often say! whatever the case may be, however the week is going, everyone needs a little relaxation time as often as possible and it remains our pleasure to offer you that and so much more, because your comfort remains our priority. Until next week stay blessed and give thanks to the Lord.

Enjoy

Dear Friends,

Top of the day to you. I can’t help wondering how many of us actually came out this past Saturday to vote for our next president. Obviously, by now we have heard the results of the election, nevertheless, it is and still remains our responsibility to cast our individual vote for the man whom we believe is passionate enough to not only talk the talk but also walk the walk, in terms of improving the lifestyle of all Nigerians. And yes, your vote can make a difference. Tuesday, the 26th has been confirmed and set aside as the date for governorship and house of assembly elections, so we have enough time to do our own research on the candidates and actually go exercise our civil rights. At this point, I can’t help but mention our disappointment and sadness at the riot that took place in Kaduna and Kano as a result of the outcome of the presidential elections, which was unnecessary, and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this process or property. We pray that appropriate action will be taken against all rebels and terrorists involved in these dastardly, barbaric acts, who have now made the world to look at us as a violent nation, which we are not.

As we approach the Easter holidays proper, we employ all our friends and guests to keep safe as much as possible, because as we all know, there’s life after this present elections and we ought to celebrate our Easter with our families and friends in one piece. One place you’ll always find safety is with us, at the cinema, at the Palms, Lekki or Genesis Centre in Port Harcourt and as always, there are interesting titles to look forward to. First on the list is a home video, from our very own Nollywood superstars: “Tango with Me” starring Genevieve Nnaji, Tinsel’s Joseph Benjamin, Joke Sylvia and Bimbo Akintola. It’s a family drama/romance about a newlywed couple who got entangled with mistaken identities during their honeymoon and as a result had to face a lot of challenges, which they could overcome only through self discovery and forgiveness. It shows that at the end of it all, love alone, conquers all. It is a must-see and you should book your tickets now, for everyone in your home.

Also, this week, is another Nollywood production “Ghetto Dreamz”. The movie features Doris Simeon Ademinokan and Kunle Afolayan and has with scenes from Dagrins final burial. still showcasing at the cinema are “No Strings Attached”, “Battle Los Angeles”, “Unknown”, “Rango”, “Hop”, “Red Riding Hood”, “Mars Needs Moms”, “Hall Pass” and “Bent Arrow”, “Just Go With It”, and “Justin Bieber Never Say Never In 3D”

Last but not least on our new releases this week is “Tomorrow when the war began”. No, it’s not Nollywood (lol) It’s action/adventure/romance based on the same titled series about eight unlikely high school teenagers band together to fight, when their country is invaded and their families are taken. Starring in it are Caitlin Stacey, Rachael Hardwood and Lincoln Lewis.

So, as I often say! whatever the case may be, however the week is going, everyone needs a little relaxation time as often as possible and it remains our pleasure to offer you that and so much more, because your comfort remains our priority. Until next week stay blessed and give thanks to the Lord.

Dear Friends,

Top of the day to you, its Easter!! I’m off celebrating with the family this weekend, but I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very happy Easter, regardless of your religious persuasion (or lack thereof). Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Easter is not just about getting Easter Eggs and Easter bunnies or trying to cheat your way of getting the first prize, a little family tradition “Fair is Fair” you? Yes! I was just having a little me moment there *sigh*. Let’s not forget what Easter is truly about…. Easter is a period of reflection which is considered within the Christian beliefs, that which is neither more nor less than the annual commemoration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.

Dear Friends,

This happens to be the last week in March and we should all be delighted and give thanks to God for seeing us through another month, and special thanks to the Lord for adding another year to my life. Before I go into this week’s movies I would like to dedicate this week’s blog to one of Hollywood’s legendary movie stars of all time and my personal favorite actress Elizabeth Taylor, the violet-eyed film goddess whose sultry screen personal, stormy personal life and enduring fame and glamour made her one of the last of the old-fashioned movie stars and a template for the modern celebrity, died Wednesday 23rd March at age 79.

Taylor was the most blessed and cursed of actresses, the toughest and the most vulnerable. She had extraordinary grace, wealth and voluptuous beauty, and won three Academy Awards, including a special one for her humanitarian work. The shock of Elizabeth was not only her beauty; it was her generosity and her giant laugh.

Her more than 50 movies included unforgettable portraits of innocence and of decadence, from the children’s classic “National Velvet” and the sentimental family comedy “Father of the Bride” to Oscar-winning transgressions in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “Butterfield 8.” And my personnel best from multitude to choose from The historical epic “Cleopatra” is among Hollywood’s greatest on-screen fiascos and a landmark of off-screen monkey business, the meeting ground of Taylor and Richard Burton, the “Brad & Angelina” of their day.

For all the ferocity of her screen roles and the turmoil of her life, I will be remember Elizabeth Taylor as a child star to screen siren that grew up and aged before an adoring and fascinated public. “RIP”.

Okay! Movies this week, as promised we are going all out to bring to you the best of Hollywood but not just any movie but in 3D, yes another fantastic 3D movie called “Battle Los Angeles” an action/sci-fi/thriller movie about A Marine Staff Sergeant who has just had his retirement approved goes back into the line of duty in order to assist a 2nd Lieutenant and his platoon as they fight to reclaim the city of Los Angeles from alien invaders. Starring, Aeron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez and Bridget Moynahan.

Also, showing this week is “Rango”, an animation/adventure/comedy a movie for all ages, if you are a shrek fan then this movie is just for you.. Rango is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff. Starring Jonny Depp, Isla Fisher and Timothy Olyphant.

In addition to these new movies, still showing are Unknown and Love and other Drugs, “Mars needs Moms in 3D”, Hall Pass and Black Swan so if you happen to be in Lagos or Porthacourt this week, here’s another opportunity for you to avail your entire family and friends of the luxury of seeing these fantastic titles.

So, as I often say! whatever the case may be, however the week is going, everyone needs a little relaxation time as often as possible and it remains our pleasure to offer you that and so much more, because your comfort remains our priority. Until next week stay blessed and give thanks to the Lord.

Dear Friends,

Hope you’re having a fantastic week? Well, we must acknowledge that things don’t always turn out as we plan or hope but our ability to make the best out of every situation is what determines how fast we can learn, grow, and move on. That, of course, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t put in our very best all the time and hope for the best, right? Some things may change, but like some people say “there’s always a silver lining in every dark cloud”, so it’ll be in our best interest to focus on our silver lining this week.

Over to this week’s movies: topping the list is “Black Swan”, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. A Drama/Mystery/Thriller about the production of Swan Lake ballet by a prestigious New York City company, that required a ballerina to play both the innocent white swan and the sensual black swan. One dancer was forced to explore her dark sides to perfectly portray the both roles. For her role in the movie, Natalie Portman took home this year’s Oscar for Best Actress in a leading role. That, alone, is good enough reason to book a seat for this movie.

Also, showing this week is “The Roommate”, a thriller about a college student who finds out that her roommate has an obsession with her that quickly turns violent, starring Minka Kelly, Leighton Meester and Cam Gigandet. Lastly, is a comedy starring Owen Wilson, Jenna Fisher and Christina Applegate, about two best friends who have been married for years. When their wives notice their restlessness, they decide to grant them a “Hall Pass” (one week of freedom to do whatever they wanted without consequences), but not long after, the guys realised that they were completely out of sync with reality.

In addition to these new movies, still showing are Unknown and Love and other Drugs. It may interest you to know that “Mars needs Moms” still rates very high at the box office, so if you happen to be in Lagos this week, here’s another opportunity for you to avail your entire family of the luxury of seeing it in 3D.

So, whatever the case may be, however the week is going, everyone needs a little relaxation time as often as possible and it remains our pleasure to offer you that and so much more. We cannot thank you guys enough for complying to the cinema rules of turning off the volume on your mobile phones while in the screen, so that other guests can also enjoy the movie as much as you. We really appreciate your effort and will continue to ensure that each time you visit, your experience will be unique and special, because your comfort remains our priority. Have a great week guys.

Enjoy.
